Paul vs Rooney: Boxing News: Jake Paul can potentially fight football icon Wayne Rooney in a boxing match, which Eddie Hearn tagged as a ‘makeable’ fight in the coming days. He is expected to make his MMA debut with PFL in 2023. That said, Jake Paul doesn’t seem to be done with his boxing career. Per Rio Ferdinand, Eddie Hearn has also selected the venue for a potential Paul vs Rooney bout.

The Matchroom Kingpin said, “I have actually spoken to Wayne Rooney a few times about the Jake Paul fight. Him [Rooney] against Jake Paul at Old Trafford. It’s actually a makeable fight.”

Wayne Rooney was known for his aggressive gameplay in football, which cemented him as a legendary Manchester United and English player. But his credibility as a boxer is sheerly doubtful. Rooney has previously appeared in a small WWE segment, where he went on to feud with King Barrett.

In a WWE RAW episode, Wayne Rooney sent chills across the pro-wrestling community after slapping King Barrett in front of a massive crowd. Rooney’s aggressive action came after he was heckled by Barrett for a brief period.

Wayne Rooney is an absolute entertainer and can be a PPV hit at the Box Office if he laces the boxing gloves. Meanwhile, Jake Paul will seemingly have an easy payday if he can trade shots with Rooney inside the ring.

Andrew Flintoff may have left a sample for Wayne Rooney to beat Jake Paul

British cricketer Andrew Flintoff made a transition to the boxing world in 2012. The All-rounder cricketer has had just one fight as a pro-boxer which he won via PTS against Richard Dawson. Hence, Rooney wouldn’t be the first athlete to make a crossover to the pugilistic sphere.
