Monte Carlo Masters LIVE: Rublev vs Munar LIVE – Andrey Rublev has begun his campaign in the Monte Carlo Masters 2023. The Russian is facing Spain’s Jaume Munar. Rublev has lost the first set. Novak Djokovic is all set to begin his campaign at the clay courts this season. The top seed will headline action at the Monte Carlo Masters on Tuesday, 11th April 2023. He will face qualifier Ivan Gakhov in the first round later in the day. Second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas will also begin his campaign at the Monte Carlo Masters on the day. Novak Djokovic vs Ivan Gakhov
Novak Djokovic is all set to make his comeback to the tour after missing the Indian Wells Masters and Miami Open. Djokovic will face qualifier Ivan Gakhov in the second round of the Masters 1000 event. Djokovic is the top seed in the tournament and he aims to lift his third title in the clay court tournament.
Ivan Gakhov meanwhile entered the tournament as a qualifier. He made it to he main draw after victories against second seed Adrian Mannarino and 12th seed Luca van Assche. He continued his form in the first round of the main draw. He faced USA’s McKenzie McDonald and clinched a 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 win to set up clash against Novak Djokovic.
Andrey Rublev vs Jaume Munar
Russia’s Andrey Rublev will be facing Jaume Munar in his first match at the Monte Carlo Masters. Rublev is the fifth seed and he enters the tournament after fourth round exit from the Miami Open. Rublev is yet to win a title this year. His best performance so far this season is at the Dubai Tennis Championships. He failed to defend his title by losing the final against compatriot Daniil Medvedev.
Jaume Munar has made it to the second round after clincing 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 victory. This is the third tournament on clay for the Spaniard this year. Earlier he featured in the Argentina Open and Chile Open. He reached the semifinal at Chile which remains his best performance so far this season.
Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Benjamin Bonzi
Second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas is eyeing hat-trick of titles at the Monte Carlo Masters. The defending champion is all set to begin his campaign by facing Benjamin Bonzi in the second round. The Greek last played at the Miami Open and he bowed out from the fourth round. He is eyeing his first title of the season. His best performance this year so far is his runner-up finish at the Australian Open.
Benjamin Bonzi clinched a comfortable 6-1, 7-5 victory against Zapatta Miralles in the first round. This was his first-ever win in his career at Monte Carlo. The Frenchman now faces a big challenge against Tsitsipas. Bonzi has met Tsitsipas twice in the past and lost both the matches.
Hubert Hurkacz vs Jack Draper
10th seed Hubert Hurkacz had to fight hard to win his first round contest at the Monte Carlo Masters. He faced Laslo Djere and lost the first round after a tie-breaker. The Pole then won the next two sets which also went into tie-breakers and eventually managed to eke out a victory to enter the second round.He will now face Jack Draper.
Britain’s Jack Draper defeated Sebastian Baez in straight sets to progress to the second round. Draper entered Monte Carlo after fourth round appearance at the Indian Wells Masters last week. He is playing in the Monte Carlo Masters for the first time in his career.
