The core of LSG’s batting lineup in the previous season was KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock. Quinton de Kock will be absent for at least the opening game for LSG, while KL Rahul will continue to captain the team. The wicket-keeper batter will be playing an ODI series against Netherlands which will end on April 2.
Left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan, will also be unavailable for LSG in addition to de Kock. For LSG last season, Mohsin was the breakout star. Since the extent of the pacer’s injury is unknown, LSG will be without him for an indefinite time this season. LSG might start Jaydev Unadkat as the third pacer alongside Mark Wood and Avesh Khan in the first few games.
Rishabh Pant will be unable to play in this year’s IPL due to a terrible car crash that occurred in December of last year. The Capitals will feel the impact of Rishabh Pant’s absence greatly since his batting skills will be missed more than his captaincy. Delhi has two options for keeping wickets: Sarfaraz Khan or England’s Phil Salt, who is a fully qualified wicketkeeper.
Along with Rishabh Pant, the South African speed duo of Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi from Delhi will also be absent for at least the team’s first game due to national duties. However, Rilee Rossouw will be availabke from the first game as he is not included in SA’s ODI squad. Mustafizur Rahman’s availability is clouded in uncertainty as the Bangladesh pacer will play a T20I against Ireland on March 31 and may then be available.
