IPL 2023, RR vs DC: Rajasthan Royals‘ star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was seen shaking a leg with new teammate Joe Root on Thursday. In a video uploaded by the RR social media team, the duo could be seen dancing together on the tunes of a popular Punjabi number ‘Biba’. It was a “Yuzi style welcome to the IPL,” as the Rajasthan Royals’ social media account put it. As the song continues to play, the spinner can be seen showing Root some dance techniques. In a recent interview shared on the Indian Premier League’s social media accounts, Root, who is taking part in the league for the first time, said that Yuzvendra Chahal had been “looking after him” and that he was “great fun to be around.” During the IPL 2023 mini auction, Root was picked by the Rajasthan team for his base price of Rs. 1 crore. He is yet to play in a match, though, as RR’s starting XI for the first two games against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings did not include him.

In a video posted by IPL on Wednesday, Jos Buttler asked Root: “So everyone on social media’s been saying there’s a new friendship brewing between you and Yuzi. You actually like him, or like me, you entertain him and try and keep him at arm’s length?”
Root responded: “No, he’s great fun. I really enjoyed his company. Even though I have played a lot against him, I have never really gotten to know him before. I’m sure it’ll be entertaining throughout the tournament. He’s a good character.”
The Sanju Samson-led RR made a decent start to the IPL 2023 with a resounding victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, but they were defeated by Punjab Kings in their next match. In their upcoming match, they will play the Delhi Capitals.
