DC Playing XI vs LSG: Delhi Capitals vs Lucknow Super Giants – Another season, another captaincy worry for Delhi Capitals. After Shreyas Iyer in IPL 2021, DC are without their regular captain with Rishabh Pant out of IPL following a horrific car crash. In his absence, David Warner is leading DC in IPL 2023 but they have no full-time wicketkeeper. Phil Salt and Sarafraz Khan are two options along with young Abhishek Porel. With the Impact player rule being introduced this time, it is not anymore compulsory to mull over Playing XI. Instead, a team can now come up with a 16-member match-day squad. Although that problem is sorted, DC will be without both their star pacers Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi besides Mustafizur Rahman. DC have to pick their wicketkeeper.

However, it is likely that Sarfaraz Khan will fill in Rishabh Pant’s void as the keeper-batter. Although there are many part-time keepers including David Warner, DC have given Sarfaraz an extended run as the keeper in the practice sessions. With Warner leading, DC can only pick three players. Mitch Marsh has begun bowling. Hence, he will start considering his blistering form with the bat in India.
But that will force DC to drop Phil Salt to the bench. Rilee Rossouw is the other foreign player who will start besides West Indies all-rounder Rovman Powell. That also hints at Manish Pandey only being used as an Impact player.

In bowling department, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav will be the two spinners. Two left-arm seamers — Khaleel Ahmed and Chetan Sakariya — will be the two pacers along side Mukesh Kumar. However, if Marsh bowls full quota of four overs, DC might go for an extra batter or spinner in Lalit Yadav instead of playing a pace-heavy side.
