DC skipper David Warner scored yet another half-century at the top after the middle order crumbled. However, Warner’s low strike rate was once again put in the spotlight as the opener scored a 47-ball 51. Though Warner has performed with the bat in all the matches DC has played so far in IPL 2023, fans have held him responsible for the three consecutive losses for the team due to his slow knocks at the top.
In 4 matches played so far, the DC skipper has scored 209 at a striker rate of 114 which has evoked negative reactions from cricket pundits. Warner, who is yet to hit a six in the tournament, took 43 balls to hit a half-century in the ongoing game and scored only 1 in the next 4 balls which put other batters under pressure.
Twitter was once again abuzz and many DC fans called the Australian opener a “selfish player” for playing for his milestone rather than his team. Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan also questioned Warner’s intent and asked why the player’s strike rate has not been blamed much.
