CSK vs LSG: MS Dhoni Injury Update – Chennai Super Kings return to their hunting ground Chepauk after 4 years as CSK host Lucknow Super Giants in their first home game of the season. The four-time champions however are sweating over the fitness of MS Dhoni, who is struggling with a knee injury. Chennai Super Kings could be without their captain MS Dhoni when they return their ‘Anbuden’ on Monday. Dhoni has been struggling with a knee injury since before the start of the season.
It will be Dhoni’s first game in nearly three years at the Chepauk Stadium. The former India captain was in a lot of pain after landing awkwardly on his knee during Friday’s match against Gujarat Titans. Though, he was eventually able to move past it.
“He is absolutely fine. There is no concern. MS is managing the knee injury well and there is no reason why he should not start against Lucknow. Dhoni and the entire squad are raring to play at Chepauk,” the CSK official told InsideSport.
Dhoni was unsure of playing the season opener but did manage to pull through the game. He even played a brisk cameo at the end, but it wasn’t enough for his side to cross the line. Given their lack of wicketkeeping options, CSK and Dhoni are both walking on thin ace as far as the 41-year-old’s fitness is concerned.
What would Dhoni’s injury mean to CSK?
Dhoni’s injury would spell a crisis for CSK. Not only will they have to find a suitable captaincy pick, but also find an able gloveman. Ben Stokes, who many believe, will take over from Dhoni, could push to lead should Dhoni’s injury aggravate. Ambati Rayudu, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway are keeping options in place.
