CSK vs RR: Action shifts to Chepauk as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) today. With Chepauk pitch favoring spin, Dhoni will have Moeen Ali & Mitchell Santner quandary. The CSK skipper can play both as well as one of them on a slow sluggish Chepauk surface. During CSK’s first home match against LSG, Moeen picked up four wickets and was named player of the match. During the game against LSG, Mitchell Santner also played at Chepauk, but with mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana back, for CSK, it remains to be seen if Dhoni opts to play the Lankan spinner.

In the CSK’s last match against Mumbai, MS Dhoni opted to go with Devon Conway, Dwaine Pretorius, Mitchell Santner, and Sisanda Magala as the four foreign players. CSK romped home by seven wickets, but that match happened in Mumbai. With Chepauk pitch having a favorable match-up against spinners, Dhoni is likely to include Theekshana or Moeen Ali.
Moeen’s fitness will closely be watched by CSK management as he suffered an ankle injury. The southpaw is likely to be out for seven days. With Moeen not in the picture, CSK can play Theekshana along with Santner.
CSK vs RR: Who will Theekshana replace in the playing XI
Dwaine Pretorius will likely make way for Theekshana. MS Dhoni cannot drop Devon Conway and Sisanda Magala as both players have performed well with bat and ball respectively. Pretorius bowled well against Mumbai conceding only 28 runs in four overs. Santner picked up two wickets against Mumbai, and hence the New Zealander will play.
Theekshana had a terrific season for CSK in IPL 2022 season picking 12 wickets in nine games. The Lankan spinner has a lot of variations and can be a handful at the Chepauk surface. CSK are currently placed fifth on the points table, winning two games and losing one in the three games that they have played.
