Royals won their opening encounter rather convincingly. The top three of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler and captain Sanju Samson all made more than 50 runs. While the top 3 starred with the bat, Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal had a night to remember. Boult picked Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi in a double wicket maiden over while Chahal took 4 scalps.
The Kings however won a game of fine margins. They set KKR a target of 192 with handy contributions from each and every batter. Left hander’s Shikhar Dhawan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa had a great outing making 40 and 50 respectively. A late assault by Andre Russell had the Kings caused some worry but Sam Curran, the most expensive pick in IPL history had him holed out and that sealed the match for The Kings as rain stopped play and they won.
