Injury-hit Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are set to start the season without the services of at least two of their first-choice players in Rajat Patidar and Josh Hazlewood, are still hoping that the former might be allowed back into their fold.
Speaking a day ahead of their season opener in Bangalore against the Mumbai Indians, head coach Sanjay Bangar awaited a “sporting call” from the National Cricket Academy with regards to Patidar.

“As far as Rajat goes, at this point he’s out of our control, at the NCA he’s sort of undergoing treatment in that particular academy and we are still waiting for the clarifications from him. And once we get the clarifications, our media team will certainly keep you in the loop and it might also be the case the NCA will take a very sporting call on what he does or what his future holds,” said Bangar.
Patidar, a revelation in the previous season and a mainstay at No. 3 with a century in the Eliminator, is nursing a heel injury at the NCA currently, as reported by Cricbuzz earlier. Without his availability, RCB could be left toying with their top-order plans, including the possibility of having Virat Kohli in that position. However, Bangar refused to divulge that, citing that it could reveal their strategy at this point.
