Reece Topley Injury Update: Injury woes continue to worsen in Royal Challengers Bangalore camp. English pacer Reece Topley has been ruled out of the entire IPL 2023 campaign after dislocating his shoulder. He suffered the injury in an 8-wicket win over Mumbai Indians. RCB Head Coach Sanjay Bangar confirmed on Thursday that Topley will take no further part in the tournament. He further added that Topley has returned home to England. “Unfortunately, Reece Topley is ruled out of the tournament. We tried our best to get him back but unfortunately, he will need further treatment. We will name a replacement in due course,” RCB Head Coach Sanjay Bangar confirmed during the match against KKR.

How did Reece Topley get injured?

Reece Topley injured his shoulder while trying to save a boundary. The incident took place in the 8th over of the game. Karn Sharma pitched a tossed-up delivery to Tilak Varma. The RCB star dived to save the ball and then failed to get up after injuring his right shoulder.

Slow motion replays revealed that during the dive, Topley landed the entire pressure of his body on his shoulder. With his awkward landing, Topley was in visual pain, clasping his injured shoulder.

  • Josh Hazlewood (To arrive on April 14)
  • Rajat Patidar (Heel injury, Ruled out)
  • Reece Topley (Dislocated shoulder, ruled out)

Royal Challengers Bangalore are already without Will Jacks, Josh Hazlewood and Rajat Patidar. While Jacks and Patidar had already been ruled out, Topley becomes 3rd victim. David Willey will fulfil the role for now. However, RCB are expected to bring in a replacement.

Josh Hazlewood to arrive on April 14: The good news is that Josh Hazlewood will join the team on April 14. The Australian quick has been nursing an Achilles tendon injury. While Cricket Australia was sceptical in issuing NOC, InsideSport understands that Hazlewood is recovering well and will be available in teh 2nd half of the tournament.

Wanindu Hasaranga also remains unavailable due to international commitments. He will join the squad on April 9 after the completion of Sri Lanka’s New Zealand tour.

Will Jacks was the first casualty and he was ruled out for the season. Michael Bracewell came in as a replacement and featured in the season opener. Rajat Patidar has also been ruled out.
