Madrid Masters LIVE: PV Sindhu eyes her first appearance in the final of a tournament in the BWF Tour this year. Sindhu, who is the second seed in the Madrid Masters 2023 is set to face Singapore’s unseeded Yeo Jia Min in the semifinal of the tournament on Saturday, 1st April 2023. Sindhu defeated Mia Blichfeldt in straight sets in the quarterfinal. Min also clinched a straight set win against eighth seed Beiwan Zhang in the quarterfinal. - After a disappointing start to the season, PV Sindhu has returned back to form at the Madrid Masters 2023.
- Before the start of the tournament, Sindhu didn’t go past the second round in any tournaments she played this year.
- Sindhu began her campaign at the Madrid Masters with a straight set win against Jenjira Stadelmann.
- In the second round, she faced Putri Kusuma Wardani. SIndhu lost against the Indonesian llast week in the second round at Swiss Open. Sindhu however avenged her defeat with a 21-14, 21-16 win.
- In the quarterfinal, she dominated against Mia Blichfeldt with a 21-14, 21-17 win to enter her first semifinal in the tour this year.
- Singapore’s Yeo Jia Min has been in terrific form in the tournament. She is yet to drop a game so far.
- The unseeded Min began the campaign with a 24-22, 21-11 against Talia Ng in the qualifier.
- She faced India’s Ashmitha Chaliha in the second round and clinched a 21-15, 21-15 victory to enter the quarterfinal.
- In the quarterfinal, she faced eighth seed Beiwan Zhang, who is the only seeded player in the quarter. Min dominated the American with a straight game victory.
- Before the Madrid Masters, Min suffered defeats in first round at the Malaysia Open, India Open, Indonesia Masters and All England Open.
Sindhu vs Min Head-to-Head: Sindhu leads 3-0 in the head-to-head record against Yeo Jia Min. They last met at the Commonwealth Games last yera and Sindhu clinched a straight game win. Sindhu is infact yet to drop a game against the Singaporean. World No.11 Sindhu enters the contest as the overwhelming favourite.
