Orleans Masters LIVE: Rajawat vs Nguyen LIVE – Priyanshu Rajawat is looking to extend his dream run at the Orleans Masters 2023. The World No.58 will face Ireland’s Nhat Nguyen in the semifinals of the BWF Super 300 event on Saturday, 8th April 2023. Rajawat sailed past Chinese Taipei’s Chei Yu Jen in straight games to book spot in the semifinals. Nguyen meanwhile received a walkover from Misha Zilberman in the quarterfinal. - Priyanshu Rajawat is eyeing his career’s maiden final appearance in a BWF Super 300 event. His only other appearance in the final in the BWF Tour came at the Odisha Open Super 100 event last year.
- The 21-year old was initially not even part of the main draw at the Orleans Masters. However he made his way following several withdrawals.
- He made the opportunity count as he defeated compatriot Kiran George in the first round 21-18, 21-13.
- The youngster went on to clinch the biggest victory so far in his career as he sailed past top seed Kenta Nishimoto in the second game to enter the quarterfinal.
- His form continued as against World No.61 Chi Yu Jen, he sealed a straight game win in just 44 minutes to enter the semifinal.
- Nhat Nguyen is also unseeded in the tournament. In the first round, he avenged his loss against Sai Praneeth earlier this season at the Spain Masters with a 19-21, 21-19, 17-21 win.
- In the second round, he faced Czzech Republic’s Jan Louda and sealed a comfortable 21-15, 21-17 win to enter the quarterfinal.
- He didn’t even take the court for the quarterfinal and enter the upcoming contest much fresher than his opponent.
- Before the Orleans Masters this year, Nguyen managed just a solitary win in the tour. It came in the first round at the Swiss Open two weeks back.
- He entered the Orleans Masters with a first round loss at the Madrid Masters. 22-year old Nguyen is also aiming to lift his maiden title in the BWF Tour.
Rajawat vs Nguyen Head-to-Head: Both the players will be facing each other for the first time. Nguyen is ranked 38th, while Rajawat is currently at World No.58. Based on rankings, Nguyen enters the contest as the favourite. However Rajawat has been in terrific form and he is all set to give a good fight.
